Aged Care Quality Standards (ACQS) are a set of eight standards that reflect the level of care and services the community expects from aged care providers. These standards were implemented to protect and enhance older
Australian’s quality of life and autonomy by reforming the baseline of care
across all health care providers. But there was
one kicker, these standards lived inside an 80 page document that was hard for
users to resonate and see themselves in, so we developed the Because Quality Aged
Care Matters campaign.
This campaign used the standards presented in the document and embedded them in real life situations. An example below is ‘Standard 1: The Person’ which talks about a person’s access to living a quality life surrounded by those they love. We took this standard and placed the user at the centre. two colours were used; teal for the users and dark blue for the providers. The campaign was a success, and resulted in a record amount of consultation with aged care users engaging in the development of the standards.
